Andy has the distinct honour of having been bad-beated by Stu Ungar in the 1997 World Series of Poker main event, with his A-K getting cracked while Stuey held A-Q and went on to win the championship. After suffering defeat the following year as well, Andy spent five years as a semi-monastic Buddhist. He has performed exceedingly well in the tournaments of his Irish home, and placed fifth in the 2005 World Series of Poker and taking home almost $2Million for his efforts.
