Gladiators

When it hit our screens nearly fifteen years ago, Gladiators was an unprecedented success. Pulling in 14 million viewers each week at the height of its popularity, the UK Gladiators was the most successful edition of this global franchise, and the show's winning formula remains unique to this day.

Pitting pumped up beef-cakes in spandex against hapless contestants, each epic battle was witnessed by a roaring crowd of 7,000 at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, where elaborate battle challenges included Hang Tough, Whiplash, Atlaspheres, Pendulum, and infamous finale The Eliminator.

Presented by stalwart TV personalities Ulrika Jonsson and John ‘Fash’ Fashanu, the series ran for an incredible eight years, with over 200 contestants challenging the might of the Gladiators. Favourite Gladiators included Jet, Cobra, Lightning, Saracen and, of course, the legendary Wolf.
